Chicago Woman Hires Grandson to Murder Husband

A revolting twist to an already troubling story.

Last week, we reported the murder of a 72-year-old Chicago man at the hands of his 19-year-old grandson. Now it's been revealed that the man's wife contracted their grandson to execute him. 64-year-old Janet Strickland has been arrested and charged for hiring her grandson, 19-year-old William Strickland, to kill her husband because she was "sick of him." And because she wanted his money.

William Strickland, Jr. was arrested and charged with murder after he reportedly shot his grandfather six times in the back as the man, also named William Strickland, was leaving his home for dialysis treatment. The younger Strickland was compensated with material gifts:

Both Janet Strickland and William Strickland, Jr. have been charged with first degree murder and armed robbery. Janet Strickland's bail has been set at $500,000; Strickland, Jr. was denied bail.
