'Suicide Squad' Got an Oscar Nom Over 'Deadpool,' and People Are Pissed

If I'm allowed to keep it 💯 for a moment, I wasn't happy that Deadpool, one of the illest movies of 2016, didn't get an Oscar nomination. I wasn't expecting it to, but I wanted it to. While it might be fun to say that the hard R-rated surprise hit was "snubbed" during this year's Oscars, I wasn't with the people who thought it actually would get an Oscar nomination. I'll joke about it, but c'mon. The Oscars aren't really here for superhero films, even if they are of The Dark Knight caliber. Most didn't even expect Deadpool to be this fire; it being in the running for an Oscar? That was over and above.

But when I saw that motherf*cking Suicide Squad got an Oscar nom for "Best Makeup and Hairstyling?" What in the actual f*ck? Now, keep in mind, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje told me about the arduous five hours he'd spend daily getting made into Killer Croc for Suicide Squad, but does that trump, say, Ryan Reynolds getting done up to look like, as T.J Miller's Weasel put it in the movie, "Freddy Kruger face-f*cked a topographical map of Utah." I mean, just look at him.

I don't want to say it was snubbed, but the Oscars clearly f*cked up. It's good to know, though, that because of the internet, we're able to find like-minded people with a few hashtag searches on Twitter. Let's see how Twitter's feeling about this Deadpool "snub."

You know who is feeling OK about all of this? Ryan Reynolds. While he could've donned the mask and gone on a rampage regarding this "snub," Ryan followed Michelle Obama's words and went high. Props to him for having tact in these truly dark times.

So, there you have it. If you're feeling some type of way about Deadpool not getting a nomination, I'm with you, fam. Just remember it was highly unlikely that it'd get a nomination in the first place. However, I would love to see the fan fic regarding a Joker'd up Jared Leto sending all kinds of "gifts" to The Academy to get Suicide Squad nominated for something.
