HBO Hackers Just Leaked New Episodes of 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'

There are so many hackers making threats these days that it's hard to know which ones to take seriously. But HBO might want to start paying more attention to the hacker(s) who previously leaked Game of Thrones episodes, because it appears the menace has struck once again.

This time, it's not just a pivotal HBO show at risk, it's a show that fans have been waiting for since 2011, whose triumphant return was meant to be a highlight of their fall schedule. For all my Larry David heads out there, Curb Your Enthusiasm is reportedly the new victim of the latest HBO leak, with several episodes from the upcoming ninth season finding their way onto the internet.

Ever the defiant network, HBO remained firm in their stance that they would not cooperate with any hackers, and said they would refuse to participate in publicizing the leaks any more than they needed to. A statement released by the network read as follows:

Despite HBO's insistence they are not communicating with the hacker, reports from Variety previously suggested the network had already offered a pretty substantial fee to the hackers responsible. A reported $250,000 was offered up by HBO in exchange for forfeiting the stolen materials, but that mark fell well short of the $6 million sum the hackers were looking for. Sunday's Curb Your Enthusiasm drop could be interpreted as the hackers flexing on HBO, dissatisfied with either that offer or general silence on HBO's end.

Things are looking pretty, pretty, pretty bad for the network, who already lost personal data belonging to Game of Thrones stars in addition to footage and scripts for upcoming episodes. The scope of the leak remains unknown, but given that we've seen episode leaks of Insecure, Ballers, and now Curb, it may be bigger than even the network imagined.

Whenever the hackers decide the next deadline is, HBO might have to start thinking about playing ball.
