Pete Davidson Won’t Remove the Tattoo That Honors a ‘Tough’ Icon
They reportedly loves the permanent tribute to their legacy that has a place of honor on the actor's leg.
Pete Davidson has committed to removing most of his body ink. But there’s one tattoo he’s planning on keeping.
During an appearance on The Breakfast Club, the Saturday Night Live alum revealed that he’s been in the process of removing all of his body art for the better part of five years. He once had around 200 tattoos, which he claims he got over two years.
However, there is one piece of body art he will not remove, and it’s of a “tough” female icon: Hillary Clinton. "Hillary's staying, I love Hillary. I got Hilary after she lost," he said of the ink on his right leg honoring the 2016 presidential candidate.
He added, "One, I know her personally, and she's a lovely lady. But also ... she's tough, man.”
Davidson continued, “ She was really at the forefront of some bulls***. And as someone who's been at the forefront of some bull myself, I just wanted to, like, cheer her up a little bit."
Clinton knows of the tribute and, according to Davidson, “loves it.” He added, "What was cute was when I got them removed, she hit me up and was like, 'You're not removing me, are you?’ I was like, 'Of course not!' Hillary stays."
The actor and comedian admitted that he got all his body art when he was using drugs. He said time in rehab gave him the clarity to realize that maybe he should do something about them.
"I just looked at myself in rehab for the first time when I was sober and was just like, 'Oh no. What did I do?’" He considered his body art’s lack of meaning, leading him to make a major life decision.
Davidson decided to burn them off. He said the process “sucks.” A source told PEOPLE that he’s spent around $200K for the removal process.
