Selena Gomez Reveals the Only Song That Could Get Her Back on Tour
The tune is a throwback to her early days as a singer.
Selena Gomez has revealed the only song that could get her back on tour after a nine-year absence from live performing.
The Only Murders in the Building star revealed to Jake Shane on this show Therapuss, that the song that would bring her out of retirement is a track from the early part of her career. Gomez admitted she would love to perform “Who Says,” the lead single off the final album of Selena Gomez & the Scene titled When the Sun Goes Down.
"It's the most powerful moment when I get to perform it," Gomez revealed. "That's honestly the only reason I would ever do a tour again, to perform 'Who Says.'"
She explained that if the tune were re-recorded today, she would have to "take it down an octave from each year I've sung it,” adding, "I need to redo it. I should recut it."
The actor and singer said that she recently heard the song while visiting abroad (but didn’t clarify where she was at the time). She said it caused her to “tear up.I was like, 'Why the f*** am I tearing up to my own song?' "But it was because it was the little me who was there saying these really powerful messages that I still need to hear."
She further revealed why she put performing live on hold during an Actors on Actors discussion for Variety with Saoirse Ronan., “I’ll always have music in my life because my partner’s a musician, and I love having moments to do it for fun. It can be a little vulnerable when you’re putting yourself out there versus escaping into a character.”
Selena Gomez & the Scene released three studio albums from 2009 through 2012. Thereafter, she became a solo artist.
She subsequently released the studio LPs Stars Dance (2013), Revival (2015), and Rare (2020). Her most recent release pairs her up with fiancé Benny Blanco, titled I Said I Love You First.
