John Cena recently revealed that he has no desire to have children and shared how he communicated this decision to his wife.

During his appearance on Club Shay Shay, the professional wrestler and actor discussed parenthood, especially now that he's married. Cena explained that he's firmly decided against having kids, as he prefers to focus on experiencing everything else life has to offer.

"I don't want them," Cena says in the video below. "I have a certain curiosity about life, and I also know the investment that it takes. And my biggest fear is, as someone who's driven – many times stubborn, and selfish – I try to approach the world with kindness and curiosity, but I don't think I'm personally ready, nor will I ever be, to invest the time it needs to be a great parent because I want to live life for all it is."

He continued, "And I still have a lot to do. And I still want to do a lot. I have a wonderful partner I do it with. We've had open conversations about this. We share the same values."

Cena then shared that he had "uncomfortable conversations" with his wife, Shay Shariatzadeh, during their first and second dates. Despite the discomfort, Cena said these talks were "great" because they allowed both of them to face those difficult moments together, helping them build a strong foundation for their relationship. He also mentioned how some people can be judgmental toward those who openly say they don't want children.

"[It’s] human nature. We're all judgmental. I'd like to believe that I operate under the construct that everyone's okay living their life," Cena said, before he went into how he's been comfortable with the decision since he was a teenager. "My opinions only hit that gray area during emotionally difficult times. And I'm very happy with where I stand. I have a lot of joy and fulfillment in my life. And that's pretty much where I stand on it."

Cena and Shariatzadeh began dating in 2019, a year after he ended his relationship with former professional wrestler Nikki Garcia. In that relationship, Cena was willing to reverse his vasectomy in order to have children with Garcia, but she didn't want him to regret it, which led to their breakup.
