Nelly and Ashanti Get New Reality TV Show That Focuses on Their Relationship
The couple first met at the Grammy Awards in 2003 and got married in December 2023.
Nelly and Ashanti are giving fans an inside look into their relationship with a brand new reality television show on Peacock.
On Friday (May 9), the streamer announced that the married couple will be starring in Nelly & Ashanti: We Belong Together, which is set to premiere next month. The new eight-episode show will follow the couple as they explore married life.
"Nelly & Ashanti: We Belong Together...follows the electrifying journey of this beloved couple as they reignite their love, navigate the ups and downs of newlywed life, and the challenges of parenthood while juggling their thriving careers," reads a press release about the upcoming series. "Can this unstoppable duo prove that their love truly can conquer all? A fun-filled exploration of love's second chances."
Nelly first met Ashanti at the Grammy Awards in 2003 and began dating shortly after. They broke up in 2013 but found their way back to each other, reportedly at Ja Rule and Fat Joe's Verzuz battle in 2021. The couple confirmed they were back together in September 2023. The following April, they announced that they were engaged and had a baby on the way — even though they had already been legally married for several months by that point. In an episode of The Bootleg Kev Podcast, Nelly admitted he married Ashanti because he didn't want her to be a "baby mama."
"Once we found out that she was pregnant, I was just like, yeah, we hadn't talked about any of that yet," he said. "But I was like, 'Yo, you know what. Let's just knock this out because we're gonna be doing so much, and everything's moving so fast.' And I didn't want her to be a baby mama."
The couple's son, Kareem Kenkaide Hayes, was born on July 18, 2024.
