Quinta Brunson has joked her own mother can't watch the upcoming crossover between Abbott Elementary and It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia because of how wild the episode will be.

In an exclusive interview with People, Brunson shed some light on how the crossover came about and added what the casts from both shows have in store for fans. According to Brunson, an online joke sparked the idea for the crossover and had the creators of both shows plot how to make it come to life.

"There was a silly thing online I think that someone sent to Rob McElhenney and said, 'This seems like an Always Sunny episode,'" said Brunson. "And then, he said, 'It seems more like an Abbott episode.' It got Rob and I talking, and the episode is not about that thing, but Rob and I really got along."

She added, "More than anything, I think that was important that I got along with the lead creator of that show, and we saw a world in which we could bring our shows together since they are both in Philadelphia. It was really simple and people are confused, but I think it works really well and it helps that we're all under the Disney umbrella, so it hasn't been as painful as it could have been."

When asked if she'll be letting "loose" in the crossover, Brunson joked she's letting her hair down, saying, "Yeah, my mom's not going to be allowed to watch that."

Earlier this month, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia creator Rob McElhenney announced the crossover with an Instagram post of himself, Brunson, and Charlie Day posing in front of the Abbott Elementary school building set.
