Joy-Ann Reid Gives Killer Mike a Teachable Moment on Instagram
Killer Mike held that L.
Killer Mike and MSNBC’s Joy-Ann Reid shared what is at least their second conversation on hot button issues Sunday. The festivities began on Instagram, where Reid posted a behind-the-scenes picture from an recent photo shoot.
“And not to be outdone... @glamluxxe and Cynthia, who rocked the H&M for our Elgin Baylor shoot! #AMJoy #GlamSquad,” Reid wrote in her IG caption.
Mike apparently thought Reid meant she was making a reference to sponsoring or wearing H&M, and jumped in her comments to bring up that racist hoodie from earlier this year.
“So me doing an interview about black Gun ownership with the NRA is “bad” but u promoting a company that tagged a Black Child a Monkey is “good, cool, acceptable” Ok. Check. Smh niggas…..” Mike wrote.
Reid and Mike essentially agreed to disagree a few weeks ago when Mike caught flack for appearing in an NRA interview that was published right before the March for Our Lives protest. And Sunday, Reid clearly had time to dispel any notion she was giving H&M any type of promotion. "H&M" stood for "hair" and "makeup," and Killer Mike walked right into this spicy clapback for his confusion:
Twitter features generally messy commentary, so Killer Mike’s mentions turned into a graveyard.
Ultimately, Mike took his L in stride. And it looks like he and Reid’s differing opinions on black gun ownership will result in some substantive, televised dialogue and not just Twitter memes.
“Yup I got educated and I appreciated. I’m making sure I’m staying with the people tho no more outta line with me,” Mike tweeted. Mike then dropped a series of tweets hinting that he might appear on Reid’s show, AM Joy.
