Google Chrome Is More Popular Than Internet Explorer for the First Time Ever

New data suggests Google Chrome is a more popular web browser than Microsoft's Internet Explorer.

For the first time in Chrome history, Google has beat Microsoft as the popular browser in the U.S.

According to data from Adobe's analytics program, Chrome for mobile and desktop surpassed Internet Explorer with a 31.8 percent share of all U.S. browser usage, while Microsoft's browser represented 30.9 percent. Apple's Safari and Firefox followed with 25 percent and 8.7 percent, respectively.

"Today, mobile [operating systems are] more important, giving Google and Apple a leg up with default status on Android and iOS," wrote ADI analyst Tyler White in a statement, explaining that much of the recent shift can be attributed to the uptick of Internet-enabled mobile devices.
