Anthony Rapp Revealed Kevin Spacey Allegations After Being Inspired by Women in Hollywood

In a new interview, Star Trek: Discovery star Anthony Rapp said he was inspired by stories of women unmasking prominent men in the entertainment industry for sexual assault and harassment. Their stores, Rapp said, moved him to reveal that Kevin Spacey made a sexual advance toward him when he was 14. At the time of the alleged incident, Spacey was 26.

"In this moment, with what's happened, it's become clear that people can be believed and that it can have an impact," Rapp toldAttitude. "The entire apparatus that kept people silent and also kept [those guilty of harassment] safe is being dismantled." That dismantling, Rapp added, has hopefully resulted in a "sea change" across multiple industries.

"There is no such thing as truly being alone, which is what I hope this moment demonstrates, that there is strength in numbers," Rapp, who was "incredibly moved" by the support he received when going public with his Spacey allegations, said.

In addition to being fired from Netflix's House of Cards, Spacey was cut from Ridley Scott's All the Money in the World at the last minute. The film, which is now in theaters, centers on the 1973 kidnapping of John Paul Getty III and earned Spacey's replacement—the superb Christopher Plummer—a Golden Globe nomination.
