Kim Kardashian Apologizes for Being ‘Naive’ After Defending Jeffree Star’s Racist Comments
The controversy started during a livestreamed swatch session.
Kim Kardashian has apologized for defending controversial makeup artist Jeffree Star during a recent livestreamed swatch session.
But first, some backstory. On Monday, Kardashian hit Instagram Stories to give fans a look at swatches of her new KKW Beauty products. During the stream, some started questioning Kardashian's swatch skills, including Jeffree Star:
Kardashian quickly admitted she "didn't know how to fucking swatch." Kardashian also mentioned Star by name, telling her fans they were being "petty" by bringing up his past racist remarks. "I see you being so petty bringing up things in his past, where he, you know, was negative, but he's also apologized for those things," Kardashian said. "I get that it's a serious deal if you say, like, racial things, but I do believe in people changing."
Kardashian added that she does "not defend people that are racist" and is "very against it," but she does give people the benefit of the doubt when they claim they've changed. Kardashian's remarks earned the approval of Star, but didn't go over so well elsewhere.
