$10,000 Worth of Weed Falls From the Sky and Destroys a Doghouse
The package weighed 23 pounds and was likely the result of a failed drone transportation across the border.
An innocent dog is now (technically) homeless after a heartless 26-pound package of marijuana fell from the sky and crushed her modest estate. The doghouse, now completely destroyed, stood on the residence of the dog's owner's home in Nogales, Arizona. After hearing a "ruckus" one morning, Maya Donnelly walked outside to find that a large package had fallen from the sky and destroyed both the doghouse and the roof of her carport.
"Where it landed was clear on the other side of the house from the bedrooms," Donnelly tells the Guardian. "We were lucky in that sense." Local authorities estimate the package was worth at least $10,000, likely the unfortunate result of a botched drone transportation plan. With the Mexican border so near, local police believe that whoever responsible for the mystery drop is likely already in a great deal of trouble even without police involvement.
"Someone definitely made a mistake, and who knows what the outcome of that mistake might be for them," says police chief Derek Arnson. As for Donnelly, she doesn't care much for her friends' confusion as to why she even bothered to notify local authorities. "That’s what everybody says: ‘Why did you call 911?" Maya Donnelly say. "But how can you have a clear conscience, right? We could have made lots of home repairs with that."
All of this is tremendous journalism, but fails to consider the obvious: the dog ordered the weed.
