Pamela Anderson Wants Everyone to Stop Watching Porn Because It's for 'Losers'

Pamela Anderson would like people everywhere to chill with the porn watching. The iconic actress and former Playmate of the Month penned an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday, pointing at former Congressman Anthony Weiner's latest sexting scandal as an example of the "addictive dangers" of porn.

"This is a public hazard of unprecedented seriousness given how freely available, anonymously accessible, and easily disseminated pornography is nowadays," Anderson said in the essay, a collaboration with rabbi-counselor Shmuley Boteach. "Put another way, we are a guinea-pig generation for an experiment in mass debasement that few of us would have ever consented to, and whose full nefarious impact may not be known for years."

The essay also cites stats from the American Psychological Association, which show "porn consumption rates" at between 50 and 99 percent for dudes and 30 to 86 percent for women. According to their stats, women prefer "a less explicit variety" of porn and have reported that it improves their sexual relationships. The essay claims that men in these studies, however, report "less satisfactory" sex lives with their partners.

Comparing these rates to other fun (in moderation!) stuff like weed and coke, the essay paints a dire picture for the future of porn consumers:

The science behind porn addiction, however, remains a bit divided. Dr. David J. Ley penned a Psychology Today piece back in March calling on everyone to continue having "more open dialogue" about the connections between porn and intimacy, while taking care not to confuse "morality-based fears" with evidence.
