YouTuber Says Roblox Threatened Him With Litigation 'Because I Catch Predators on Their Platform'

“This is pretty heartbreaking to me,” Schlep told fans.

Schlep, a longtime presence on Roblox, says reps for the platform recently threatened him with litigation in connection with his YouTube work aimed at catching sexual predators.

In the alleged letter, seen below via Schlep’s X update over the weekend, it’s argued that Schlep’s “actions are a violation of Roblox policies and directly undermine Roblox’s safety efforts and, critically, are exposing our users to increased risk.” The alleged letter goes on to acknowledge that Schlep’s “stated intentions may be to protect children,” but argues that his “methods” of doing so are “actively interfering” with the platform’s own safety protocols.

In a video shared to YouTube, seen above, 22-year-old Schlep disputed the arguments laid out in the alleged letter. According to Schlep, he and his team managed to get “six predators arrested within the Roblox community” over the past year. Now, Schlep says, the platform has moved to terminate every account he’s had on the platform dating back to when he was eight years old.

“This is pretty heartbreaking to me,” Schlep told fans, further alleging that this marks the “first time” anyone at Roblox has directly reached out to him, despite his own efforts at making contact about concerns over platform safety.

The same video finds Schlep calling the claims in the letter “laughably hilarious,” pointing to his own alleged grooming incident to drive home the point. Schlep also underscores his longtime love of the larger Roblox community, noting that he stayed on the platform for years despite what he argues are its shortcomings.

“When I was a kid I was groomed on Roblox by a popular developer,” Schlep said. “He manipulated me, he used power dynamics over me, and frequently exposed me to gore and NSFW material and loads of other stuff that a kid should never see. It was so bad that I actually made an attempt. While I was in the hospital, my mom contacted Roblox. They brushed her off. That predator went on to groom more victims before Roblox finally banned him years later.”

Moving forward, Schlep says he will not be accessing the platform “in any capacity,” at least unless “Roblox says otherwise.” In lieu of that, he directed fans to a website where he will continue his alleged predators-focused work, albeit not on Roblox.

Complex has reached out Roblox reps for comment. This story may be updated.

In a recent news release, platform reps mentioned “cases of vigilante groups or individuals violating our policies to entrap users or otherwise self-police” Roblox. Schlep criticized this wording, arguing that law enforcement agencies have publicly expressed gratitude for such work.
