Donald Trump Is On the Fence About Whether He'll Pardon Diddy (UPDATE)
“He was essentially, I guess, sort of half-innocent."
UPDATED 8/5, 6:00 p.m. ET: One of Diddy's attorneys, Nicole Westmoreland, has revealed to CNN that the Bad Boy head's team has indeed "reached out" to Donald Trump's administration to investigate the possibility of a pardon.
“It’s my understanding that we’ve reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon,” the lawyer said.

President Donald Trump is seemingly on the fence about whether he’ll give Sean “Diddy” Combs a presidential pardon.
In an interview with Newsmax that aired on Aug. 1, the President addressed the possibility of giving Diddy a pardon and, in doing so, exposed how unsure he felt about it.
“He was essentially, I guess, sort of half-innocent,” said Trump. “He was celebrating a victory, but I guess it wasn’t as good of a victory.”
The President, who has a track record of issuing pardons to convicted political supporters, as well as rappers like Lil Wayne, Kodak Black, and YoungBoy Never Broke Again, then seemingly flipped sides by recalling how Diddy spoke against him while he was campaigning.
“When I ran for office, he was very hostile,” said Trump. “It’s hard, you know? We’re human beings. And we don’t like to have things cloud our judgment, right? But when you knew someone and you were fine, and then you run for office, and he made some terrible statements. So I don’t know…it makes it more difficult to do.”
The President’s comments come a day after Diddy’s lead attorney, Marc Agnifilo, revealed in an interview with Variety that he had no clue if his client would be pardoned or not.
"I am not involved in [pardon efforts] in the least. I have literally no idea," said Agnifilo. "There are times I think there's nothing to it, and there are times I think it's just rumor mill stuff. But, I do not purport to know the president's mind. I really don't know."
Elsewhere in that interview, Agnifilo opened up about Diddy’s confinement and what the music mogul has been experiencing behind bars.
"One of the horrible things about the (Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn) is not going outside ever," Agnifilo said. "He hasn't been outside since September. He hasn't had sun on his skin. It's sort of like sensory deprivation. The light's always the same, it's artificial light, there's no breeze, there's no wind, there's very little change in temperature. So, he wants to get out and be with his family."
Diddy is currently scheduled to be sentenced on October 3 after being found guilty of two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution. Read more about what is likely to happen at his sentencing here.
