Florida Man Survives Stray Bullet Because He Was Wearing Cross on Chain: 'God's Definitely Real'
"The outcome would have been completely different," if he wasn't wearing the pendant, one medical professional said.
A Florida man was reportedly saved after a stray bullet struck a Christian cross pendant on the chain he was wearing around his neck.
Fox 25 reports that 20-year-old Aidan Perry was accidentally shot in the chest by a .40 caliber pistol in Ocala, Florida, while at a friend’s house in June.
Afterward, Perry was rushed to the HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and given surgery, which was ultimately successful because of the cross pendant on the chain that he was wearing.
Medical officials have speculated that because of the pendant, a Christmas gift from Perry's father, his major organs were spared of any serious damage.
The bullet ultimately entered his body through his arm, resulting in a broken humerus.
Speaking to Fox 35, Perry revealed that he thought he would die because he looked down and saw “tons of blood.”
"It’s just kind of a reminder now to never stop believing," Perry said. "Keep believing, and God’s definitely real."
Trauma surgeon Khafra Garcia Henry said how lucky that Perry was, calling him "a very fortunate young individual because if his chain was not there, the outcome would have been completely different."
"In Aidan’s case, he was fortunate enough that the bullet did not enter his chest wall—it ricocheted off the chain he was wearing,” Henry added.
The man who allegedly shot Perry by accident has been arrested and charged with culpable negligence causing injury.
