Jon Hamm Wants to Star in a Romantic Comedy With Jennifer Aniston
Aniston previously announced she'd be open to it.
Jon Hamm thinks it’s time for him and Jennifer Aniston to have their own romantic comedy movie together.
Hamm recently spoke to IndieWire about his recent Emmy nominations for Apple TV+’s The Morning Show on which Jennifer Aniston stars as his love interest. When asked about whether he’d star in a romantic comedy with Aniston since she previously revealed that she’d be down to do one with him, he agreed.
“I have no idea what it would look like,” said Hamm. “I think it would just have to be funny and fun and it would let us do what we both do very well, which is be charming and funny and compelling. I certainly wouldn’t say no to that.”
Hamm also suggested that romantic comedies could still work out in the box office these days. “I mean, God bless Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney for proving that it can work again,” he said.
“I’m glad to see that some of the [studios], streamers and alternate folks are taking swings at the romantic comedy genre again because I feel like it is something that was overlooked for some time,” he continued.
Hamm and Aniston have been friends for years — and their chemistry has been felt by fans everywhere on The Morning Show where they star as love interests. Last year, the duo had a steamy sex scene that director Mimi Leder detailed to The Hollywood Reporter what it was like to film it.
“They had such great chemistry together, and it was so fun bringing it to life on camera,” she said.
“Mimi, Jen and Jon did beautiful work there,” said Media Res executive producer Michael Ellenberg. “They’re fearless. Jen’s fearless. They all went for it. It’s two brilliant, iconic actors, and I think Mimi is correct: It’s a highly viral episode, and it’s a highly explosive one that we’re looking for audiences to see.”
