Kevin Hart Thinks MrBeast Has Evolved Game Shows: 'He Redefined It'
Kevin Hart praised MrBeast, saying what he is doing with game shows is “dope” on ‘The Breakfast Club.’
Kevin Hart loves what MrBeast is doing with his game show, Beast Games.
Hart recently sat down with The Breakfast Club and discussed (around the 16:40 mark) how he’s working with Druski and Kai Cenat to help them understand the power of what they can do as streamers and content creators. During the discussion, he referenced what MrBeast has accomplished with Beast Games.
“What MrBeat is doing is dope,” said Hart. “It’s a game show, big game show. He’s taken everything, the idea of gaming and prizes, and redefined it.”
“We’ve seen it for years on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and all these other shows,” Hart continued. “It was a traditional win and here’s your gift (setup). He broke that model. He did it time after time again and then he built a big ass series. Then, streaming platforms were like ‘hey we’ve got to fuck with this guy, we’re going to give him XYZ to do it.’ He controls it, he owns it.”
MrBeast’s Beast Games dropped on Amazon Prime Video in December. The Squid Game-like show features 1,000 players competing against each other for a five million dollar prize. Alongside a teaser trailer released the month before that, MrBeast — who recently confirmed he's a billionaire on paper — elaborated about the process of making the show.
“I spent over a year creating this 10-episode competition series, breaking 40 world records, building the craziest sets in entertainment history, featuring 1,000 players, and a $5,000,000 grand prize!” MrBeast wrote. “I poured everything I have into this show.”
While the show has been a success, it faced some legal action from contestants who say that it was a “hostile work environment.” A complaint was filed in September by several contestants who claimed failure to pay minimum wages, failure to pay overtime, sexual harassment, negligent infliction of emotional distress, unfair business practices, and false advertising.
“Defendants exercised total control over the manner, means, and timing of the work performed by the contestants, by controlling essentially every aspect of their lives during the production of the show,” the complaint alleges, adding that contestants claimed they were required to “miss other work if they had other jobs.”
The contestants also alleged in the 54-page complaint that they were subjected to “dangerous” work conditions; furthermore, defendants are accused of facilitating a “culture and pattern and practice of sexual harassment,” with women contestants allegedly “forced to endure” what’s described as “severe embarrassment” during production.
