A Pittsburgh Subreddit has suggested a very reasonable explanation for Jay Leno’s injuries that don’t involve being beat up by loan sharks.

A user left a comment explaining what they believe happened that led to the 74-year-old falling down a hill. They began by explaining that Leno was staying at the Hampton Inn in Greensburg and had to perform later that day at the Palace theater downtown.

“Jay wanted to eat at the nearby Dino’s Sports Lounge prior to the show,” wrote the Reddit user. “To walk to Dino’s you’d either have to walk 750 ft on the road , or you could shave off 350 feet if you walk down the grassy hillside.”

The user's theory goes on to explain that Leno decided to take the chance with a shortcut down the hill. “Since the path was rough, not maintained and erode away, he tripped and rolled down the hill, hitting his head on the exposed rocks and earth on the way down the hill," reads the theory.

The user also commented on Leno’s estimate of the hill that he fell on. “Jay was remarkably accurate as he estimated the hill to be about 60ft,” they wrote. “After measuring, the hill is 56 feet from top to bottom.”

A few days ago, Leno shocked the world when he revealed that he had some nasty bruises and a swollen face. When TMZ caught up with the comedian at the Comedy for Koby event in Beverly Hills, he wore an eye patch, had a black eye and a bandaged wrist.

Leno explained how he fell down a hill while heading to a restaurant. "I said, 'Well, the hill doesn't look that steep. It's about 60-70 feet. Let me see if I can go down the hill,'" he said. "I fell down. Boom, boom, boom. I rolled down the hill, hit my head on a rock, and knocked me in the eye."

Being that Leno previously suffered third-degree burns to his face due to a fire in his garage and broke several bones in a motorcycle crash, jokes began to fly online that this was the latest in a line of injuries from people he possibly owed money to.

When speaking to TMZ about his recent injuries, Leno gave a funny answer that seemingly rules out any loan shark or mafia enemies. "The great thing about this age is that you don't learn by your mistakes—you just keep doing the same stupid things,” he said.
