Rob Lowe Says 'Nobody Has Sex Scenes In Movies Anymore'
He said that, years ago, a sex scene would always be on page 73 in a movie script
Rob Lowe thinks we need more sex scenes.
The actor recently spoke about doing the deed on his Literally! With Rob Lowe podcast. "Nobody has sex scenes in movies anymore," he said while talking to Kristin Davis.
Lowe then turned his attention to the sex scenes in Nicole Kidman’s new movie Babygirl. "They're like, 'Oh, it's so brave. She's so brave,'" he explained sarcastically. "She's brave because she has a sex scene. That's brave now. And in our day, it was required. There's the page 73 rule. Do you know what the page 73 rule is?"
"Back in the day, the sex scene was always on page 73," he continued. "You get a script and you're like, 'Oh my God, how gratuitous. Do I have to be naked in this? Let me check.' And you didn't have to read the whole script. You just went to page 73."
Lowe then suggested that older scripts sometimes had trouble with their story structure in the latter half of the film, so that’s why they added those scenes. "That mid–second act — what do you do in the second act?" he asked. "Which is notoriously the toughest sledding in storytelling: mid–second act. I know. They Blue Lagoon it. Beach under a moonlit night. But now it's brave. So brave."
A few days ago, actor Chris Pratt made a joke about intimate scenes involving his brother-in-law Patrick Schwarzenegger on White Lotus.
Pratt sat down with E! News and was asked, “Where does everybody’s eyes go—during his ‘not safe for family’ scenes? Because there's a handful of them” — prompting the actor to respond with, “I know where my eyes went. I'm not blood-related to him, but I was looking at that dick, bro.”
After laughing, Pratt got serious. “No, he looks amazing. Obviously, he’s a physical specimen, but also he’s a really solid actor, because the character he’s playing is completely different than who he is,” Pratt added. “He created a character. And it feels natural and good. I’ve been telling everybody for years, I’ve been telling him as well, I really think we’re entering a decade of Patrick.”
“I’ve been watching him, he’s just been working hard,” Pratt continued. “He’s actually a hustler across the board, not just with acting but with business, and everything. He’s super driven, and I know he gets that from both his mom and his dad.”
