Italian Flag Detailing Added to the 'Metallic Gold' Nike Air Max 97

The gold 'Italy' Nike Air Max 97 will release in Europe on Jan. 18, 2018 for $160.

This isn't just another "Metallic Gold" Nike Air Max 97 retro, but rather a subtle tribute to the country that adopted the sneaker as a fashion icon more than 20 years ago.

Most of the design, such as the golden leather upper, are carried over from the original, but fabric used for the tongue and heel pull-tabs bears the colors of the Italian flag. Other colorways, such as the "Silver Bullets," have been treated to similar overhauls in recent years.

European stockists have confirmed a Jan. 18, 2018 release date for $160. There's no word on stateside availabilty at the time.
