The Kobe A.D. NXT 360 Features First-of-Its-Kind Cushioning

Earlier this week, Nike broke down the details behind the Kobe A.D. NXT 360's updated Flyknit upper, and now we're learning more about the sneaker's other performance features.

Like Kobe Bryant's game, the science behind his new shoe is anything but simple. According to Nike, the sneaker's design and tech were partly inspired by a MIT study which found that for every foot placed between an offensive player and a defender in the NBA, the shooter's field goal percentage increases by two percent. This factored into the Kobe A.D. NXT 360's emphasis on providing sturdy footing.

Inside, a drop-in midsole uses a first-of-its-kind combination of Lunarlon on the outer section with a React core directly underfoot. Meanwhile, the shoe's 360-degree Flyknit brings the wearer's foot closer to both the cushioning and the ground, which Nike says helps with lockdown to further provide a confident stance.

The Kobe A.D. NXT 360 releases Friday, April 13 for $200 at select Nike accounts.
