You Can Soon Wear Nike and Jordan Sneakers on Fortnite
The new 'Kicks' cosmetics feature is being released this week.
The popular video game franchise Fortnite reportedly is planning to introduce a new feature where gamers can apply different sneakers to their characters.
News of the upcoming Fortnite feature was first leaked by @BRLeaks_ES and @ESFortniteBR on X today, revealing that a new sneakers-focused cosmetic tool is coming to the game soon. It's worth mentioning that the image above is from a previous Jordan Brand x Fortnite event, and images of the feature have yet to be revealed.
The tweets shared by the leakers show backend coding for the game that suggests that the feature will be available for select skins. This includes those that the gamers already own as well as skins they are looking to purchase.
Fortnite has worked with Nike and its subsidiary Jordan Brand in the past to bring their sneakers into the game. This includes Air Maxes and Air Jordans being featured in the game, as seen in the image above.
Despite the early leaks, release details for this Fortnite feature have yet to be announced.
UPDATE (11/20): Nike, Jordan Brand, and Fortnite have officially announced their latest collaboration, with the launch of an in-game cosmetics feature dubbed "Kicks." Beginning tomorrow, gamers will be able to customize their characters with Nike and Jordan Brand footwear. Early leaks reveal that the options include the ultra-rare "Manila" Air Jordan 4, the "Galaxy" Nike Foamposite One, the "Bred" Air Jordan 11, and many more. Nike also hints that there will be additional in-game footwear lineups in the works, which will be announced at a later date.
"Video Gaming and sport have always been intertwined: Together, they provide athletes* a platform to compete in sport off the field, express their fandom, and engage with a global community," Ron Faris, the VP of Nike Virtual Studios, said about the partnership. "By deepening this connection with consumers in a space that commands the bulk of their attention, we can introduce new innovative products that fans wear in-game. This, in turn, can unlock the physical versions of the product in the real world and reward their fandom."
