Nike Honors Zoom Streak Spectrum Plus on New Performance Models
The VaporFly 3 and Zoom Fly 6 take on the flame graphics.
Nike’s Zoom Streak Spectrum Plus was largely forgotten when Supreme brought back the Steven Smith-designed, flame-covered model from 2003, for a 2018 collab. Now, the shoe is serving as inspiration for two new colorways of modern performance models.
As shared by Sneaker News, the Nike Vaporfly 3 and Nike Zoom Fly 6 and have been given graphic packages mimicking the early aughts runner. A small outlined Swoosh replaces the standard oversized branding typically seen on the high-tech runners, accompanied by the gradient flames the Zoom Streak Spectrum Plus is best known for.
According to Smith, the Zoom Streak Spectrum Plus was originally designed as a lightweight, durable sneaker for performance runners in Japan. It was part of a series of shoes for the Hakone Ekiden, a week-long relay.
Release details and pricing for the Zoom Streak Spectrum Plus-inspired Nike Vaporfly 3 and Nike Zoom Fly 6 are not yet known.
