NBA Fan Arrested After Threatening to Kill Adam Silver
A 27-year-old fan threatened to kill commissioner Adam Silver.
A man was arrested Friday after he threatened to kill NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, according to the New York Post. The 27-year-old, David Pyant, wrote a letter demanding that Silver allow him to play in the league.
"If you don't let me play, I'm going to come up there and kill you with my f*cking gun," Pyant allegedly wrote in an email to the NBA, according to TMZ, which cites police sources.
The email was sent in July 2017. He was arrested May 11 of this year.
Pyant reportedly lives in Queens. He's received a temporary restraining order to steer clear of Silver.
The Post reports he has been arrested 13 times previously and has served jail time for robbery. Pyant has been charged with aggravated harassment. He has reportedly been released without bail.
The news comes on an otherwise joyous day for Silver, as the Supreme Court overturned legislation that had made sports gambling illegal in most states. Silver, a long-time advocate of the legalization, celebrated the victory.
