John Cena Admits to Hair Transplant: 'Thank You for Bullying Me'

Perhaps the bullying about his hairline is what caused him to turn heel.

In a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, John Cena admitted that he underwent hair transplant surgery and suggested he was bullied into it.

"It's coming in, I listen to you idiots, I do," he said on the show this week. "You have to take the ones from the side and plug them in on top. It just takes a while to come in. It's coming in. Hopefully, in a couple of months, it looks better. There's another headline: Hair transplant. There is no shame in that. I have a problem, I try to fix it. I'm not going to tell you who did it because I'm still waiting for it to get better."

He said he heard people rip him "to shreds" over his appearance in recent years, which he thinks isn't fair because of how common hair loss is in men. He said he got it done in November 2024, but he wishes he had someone talk to him about it a bit more gently.

"One of you sons of bitches could've pulled me to the side," he continued. "In unison, you chant and make me feel small and embarrass me. Y'all don't know what that's like! That is straight-up bullying and not cool. Thank you for bullying me into surgical hair replacement. That's how far y'all pushed me."

Cena, now 47, is currently on a huge run as he prepares to retire from the WWE later this year. His final match is scheduled for December, and earlier this year, he shocked fans when he turned heel. Maybe it was all the bullying about his hair that did it.
