LSU Tigers Standout Kyren Lacy Wanted on Felony Hit-and-Run Charges
The LSU wide receiver is also wanted on a charge of negligent homicide.
LSU Tigers wide receiver Kyren Lacy, 24, is wanted by Louisiana State Police for his involvement in a crash that killed one and injured two.
Per Sports Illustrated via WAFB, Lacy is wanted on charges of negligent homicide, reckless operation of a vehicle, and felony hit-and-run for a crash on Dec. 17, 2024, that killed former marine 78-year-old Herman Hall and injured two others. Following the crash, Lacy allegedly drove away from the scene and failed to report his involvement to authorities. He declared for the NFL Draft two days after the fatal crash.
He and his legal team have been in communication with LSP and he plans to turn himself in.
Authorities said that he was driving a 2023 Doge Charge on LA Highway 202 when he "recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane while in a designated No-Passing Zone." As he illegally passed the other vehicles, a driver in a pickup truck braked to swerve out of the way of the Dodge. A Kia Cadenza was driving behind the pickup truck and swerved into head-on traffic with a Kia Sorrento.
"Following the crash, Lacy drove around the crash scene and fled south on LA Hwy 20 without stopping to render aid, call emergency services, or report his involvement in the crash," reads the police report. Hall was driving the Kia Sorrento and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Two days following the crash, Lacy issued a statement announcing his declaration for the 2025 NFL Draft. "Playing in Death Valley, for the best fans in the country, was an experience I will never forget. Not too many people get to fulfill a dream like this. I am forever grateful for it," he wrote. "I want to express my appreciation to all my coaches, support staff, and trainers for helping develop me as a football player, but most importantly as a person."
