Marcus Morris Denies Casino Fraud Accusations: 'F**k Vegas'

Marcus Morris Sr. celebrated his release from jail this week while denying accusations that he committed casino fraud.

Across a series of posts shared on Threads on Wednesday (July 30), the NBA veteran and ESPN analyst let his followers know that he was thankful to wake up in his own bed after what appears to have been a stressful week.

"The word FRAUD was thrown on my name as if I took something or really wrote a check to a casino in exchange for cash," he began. "Did I take out a marker to gamble yess. Was this my first time no. I've been enjoying my off time and doing what I like every year at some point in Vegas at a high level for years and that's not just gambling."

He claimed that he took the time to pay back money, which he would have done "on the spot" if he knew he'd get arrested. Essentially, he said that he always intended to pay back the casinos, and that no money ever left them in his pocket.

"This had nothing to do with no money exchange or me not being able to pay something," he continued. "Money paid back and lesson learned. FRAUD I can't live with. I'm not going on every media site to clear anything. ... I hate for Vegas to really make me really look like a criminal over a petty couple hundred. And really made sit 51 hours over that shit. ... Check the stats never owed or needed money for anything."

He said that the whole situation has been a learning experience for him, but he stressed that he does, in fact, have the money to clear up any debts with casinos in Vegas.

"My last thing is FUCK VEGAS," he concluded. "To treat me like that was wild. I've gambled on that properties over 10 plus years! We could've handled that MOB style before that option. Never been in cuffs or [a part] of any [fraud] shit in my life and it's going to stay that way! I don't need PR to do anything for me. This is from me a MAN who built his career on morals and character. ... If you know gambling you can't take money out the casino if u got a marker!"

Morris was arrested at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida on a fraud charge on Sunday, July 27. He allegedly owed $265,000 across two casinos. It's unclear when, exactly, he was released from jail, but his posts on social media surfaced on Wednesday. He is set to go to court on August 6 in connection with the charge.

Following his arrest, his brother, Markieff, defended him on social media and said that he did not commit fraud. "They got y’all really thinking bro did some fraud shit. They could have came to the crib for all that," he wrote. "When y’all hear the real story on this shit man. All I can say is Lesson learned. Bro will tell y’all tomorrow. This weird shit gave me a headache. Can’t stop nothin!"
