Stephen A. Smith Questions Serena Williams Supporting Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Shade at Drake

Stephen A. Smith doesn't understand why Serena Williams showed up to support Kendrick Lamar, who used his Super Bowl Halftime Show performance to throw shade at her ex-boyfriend, Drake.

On the latest edition of First Take, the subject of Williams' surprise appearance at the Super Bowl, during which she crip-walked to K Dot's Drake diss, "Not Like Us." Shannon Sharpe highlighted that Williams was previously romantically connected to Drake, who admitted that his song "Too Good" was about her. As seen in the clip below, Smith said that he wouldn't feel great about seeing his wife trolling her ex.

"If I'm married and my wife is going to join trolling her ex, go back to his ass," he said to laughs from his co-hosts. "'Cause clearly you don't belong with me. What you worried about him for and you're with me? Bye. Bye." Guest Ryan Clark told Smith to "stop it," and added, "If you with Serena Williams, you gonna be a kept man, anyway."

Sharpe brought up her husband, Alexis Ohanian, who co-founded Reddit. "I think he okay," he said, to which Smith replied, "Yeah, he alright."

Ohanian and Williams got married in 2017. On the 2022 Her Loss track "Middle of the Ocean," Drake took shots at the tennis star's husband and referred to him as a "groupie." In response, he tweeted, "The reason I stay winning is because I’m relentless about being the best at whatever I do—including being the best groupie for my wife & daughter." Following the release of "Not Like Us," Williams called the No. 1 diss track "the hit of the summer."
