NBA star Damian Lillard's divorce from his wife, Kay'La Lillard, in 2024 has resurfaced amid his NBA uncertainty.

According to a newly-viral Willamette Week, the former Portland Trail Blazers point guard cited “irreconcilable differences” in the filing. The couple, who began dating in college at Weber State University, tied the knot in September 2021 and share three children.

The resurfaced divorce filing comes just days after the Milwaukee Bucks waived him. Damian first joined the team in 2023 following a trade request from the Portland Trail Blazers.

During his time with the Bucks, Damian only averaged 24.6 points and shot 36.4% from the perimeter.

A torn Achilles further hindered his case for staying on the team in the first round of the NBA playoffs against the Indiana Pacers.

Despite his less-than-stellar performance this season, news of Damian's release shocked the NBA world. Former Bucks teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his disbelief. "I don't know what's going on right now, man," he wrote.

NBA legend Carmelo Anthony also expressed his disappointment on Instagram. "NO LOYALTY IN SPORTS!!! BUSINESS PER USUAL!! SMH."

"Damian lillard came back and literally probably sacrificed his remaining peak years and ended up tearing his Achilles for a franchise that ended up waving him. No more loyalty talk," wrote the Clippers' Jamal Christopher.

New speculation from Athlon Sports, however, suggests that Damian may find a new home with the Boston Celtics. However, NBA commentators suggest that he may sit out the 2025-26 season because of his Achilles injury.

ClutchPoints' Brett Siegal agrees, though he thinks that Damian has time to make up his mind. "I don’t think it’s going to be anytime soon," he wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "I think if I had to rank teams, I’d have Boston at the top right now, but that could change. A lot of teams interested in Dame. He’s focused on rehab and family right now. No rush to make a decision anytime soon."
