Tony Buzbee Says Shannon Sharpe Sexual Assault Case Has Reached a ‘Mutually Agreed Upon Resolution’
“All matters have now been addressed satisfactorily, and the matter is closed," Buzbee wrote.
Shannon Sharpe’s civil case in Nevada is officially over.
What was shaping up to be a lengthy court battle—complete with a July 9 hearing that never took place—has ended in a settlement that resolves all claims.
In a fresh statement released by powerhouse attorney Tony Buzbee on Friday, July 18, who represents the anonymous plaintiff, he confirms that “after protracted and respectful negotiations, we have reached a mutually agreed‑upon resolution. All matters have now been addressed satisfactorily, and the matter is closed. The lawsuit will thus be dismissed with prejudice.” That means there will be no more re‑filing, no more courtroom drama, and no public trial for Sharpe.
The abrupt resolution caps a saga that began on April 20, when Buzbee’s firm filed a complaint accusing Sharpe of assault, sexual assault, battery, and sexual battery stemming from what both camps now describe as a “long‑term consensual and tumultuous relationship.”
Sharpe immediately denied the allegations, calling the lawsuit a “shakedown” in a video posted to X and vowing to defend himself. His legal team echoed that stance, labeling the claims “meritless.”
Tension spiked earlier this month when Sharpe’s lawyers showed up for a scheduled motion hearing only to find the plaintiff’s chairs empty. Judge Anna Albertson granted a 45‑day continuance and voiced her disappointment, while analysts on local CBS affiliate KLAS‑TV questioned the plaintiff’s strategy. Behind the scenes, however, talks were intensifying, which could explain why the plaintiff's side failed to appear in the case.
Because the case is being dismissed with prejudice, the settlement’s finer points remain confidential. Typically, such outcomes involve financial terms and nondisclosure agreements, but neither side is talking dollars.
As of this writing, Sharpe has not yet issued a public statement on the matter, and it is unclear what the legal ramifications are for his other business deals.
