Angel Reese Surprises Her Mom By Paying Off Her Mortgage for Her Birthday

Angel Reese went all out for her mom’s birthday.

The Chicago Sky player welcomed her mother, also named Angel Reese, as her latest guest, in celebration of her 54th birthday.

At the tail end of the episode, Angel revealed her special surprise to Mama Reese: that she had paid her mortgage in full.

First, Angel presented a white cake to her mother. “You said that if your mortgage was paid off, that you would retire, or you can pick if you want to work still. So your mortgage today has been paid.”

At that point, Mama Reese looked shocked and almost dropped the cake. “What?” she said.

“You ain’t gotta worry about your mortgage no more,” Angel continued. “And if you still want to work…if you want to keep yourself busy, then you can keep yourself busy.”

“Oh my God,” her mom responded. “Are you serious?”

“Yes,” Angel said as Mama Reese started crying. The mother and daughter hugged before Angel sang Happy Birthday.

This week, Angel became the first woman athlete to get her own McDonald’s meal. The Angel Reese Special includes a BBQ Bacon Quarter Pounder® with Cheese, fries, and a Hi-C for the real Angel Reese experience.

“I’ve always been a fan of McDonald’s,” she told Complex. “When I was little, I loved going to McDonald’s after practice or a game and I always made sure I had my McDonald’s money. I was also a McDonald’s All-American my senior year of high school, so The Angel Reese Special is a full-circle moment for me.”
