Kevin Love Pens Tribute to Late Father, Former NBA Player Stan Love: ‘Now It’s Time to Rest’
Stan played four seasons in the NBA, from 1971 to 1975.
Kevin Love is mourning the loss of father, former NBA player Stan Love.
Kevin took to Instagram on Sunday (April 27), where he wrote a poignant tribute to his late father, saying he was “so proud to be” his son. Kevin also wrote that he still viewed his dad as a “giant,” “protector,” and “hero.”
"Your only wish was to be at home surrounded by your family when you took your dying breath," Kevin penned. "That breath came. And now it’s time to rest."
"Like all of us, my Dad was imperfect. But despite his flaws, and my own, we are a successful story of father and son. A never ending bond, rooted in love, that will forever remain eternal," he added.
"Dad, I'm so proud to be your son. My only hope is that you’re proud of me. It was all I ever wanted. Thank you for everything. I love you."
Stan previously played four seasons in the league as a forward, and was the ninth pick in the 1971 NBA draft, first playing for the Baltimore Bullets. In 1973, he was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers, and finally, in 1975, by the San Antonio Spurs, the latter of which was in the American Basketball Association at the time.
According to TMZ, the 36-year-old Miami Heat forward has taken a break from the team for personal reasons. He will likely not play in Miami’s Game 4 against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday.
