Ryan Garcia Asks Court to Dismiss His Divorce From Andrea Celina Veladre
In January 2024, the pro boxer revealed he was getting divorced, hours after announcing the birth of his son.
Ryan Garcia has dismissed his divorce.
TMZ reports that the pro boxer wants to remain married to his wife, Andrea Celina Velarde. Court documents dated July 31 show that Garcia requested that a Los Angeles County court toss out his divorce from Velarde, with whom he shares two children. The dismissal was formally filed last week.
It’s unclear why Garcia no longer wants a divorce. According to the outlet, the couple seems to be in good spirits, celebrating his 27th birthday together on Aug. 8. Velarde even posted a photo to her Instagram Story, which showed Garcia kissing her on the cheek and her wishing her husband a happy birthday.
Garcia filed for divorce in January 2024, hours after announcing the birth of his and Velarde’s son, Henry Leo.
"Honored To announce my Beautiful First Born Son Praise The Lord. I am so thankful, I love him so much already. He is so fast already haha. Took him just 8 min to arrive You know where he got that speed from lol."
Less than two hours later, the former WBC lightweight champion hopped back on Instagram to reveal he and Andrea Celina were calling it quits after three years of marriage.
“As I step into a new chapter in my life, it’s with a heavy heart to share that Drea and I have decided to divorce," Garcia wrote. "While this decision marks the end of our marriage, it’s important ot emphasize that our relationship as co-parents remains our top priority."
Garcia and Velarde tied the knot in 2021 after dating for two years. In 2020, they welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Rylie.
