The 10 Best Looks From MLB Players' Weekend
From Gucci fielding gloves to Baby Yoda, here's who did MLB Players' Weekend the best.
Major League Baseball has been experiencing an evolution of sorts the past few years. A burst of personality has hit the sport, and while past generations balked at this level of individuality and exuberance it is now being embraced.
One of the vehicles of that shift in culture has been Players' Weekend. The weekend serves as a chance for players to express themselves and celebrate their loved ones and causes near and dear to them in colorful ways.
After a four-year hiatus Players' Weekend returned this past weekend and fans were treated to some incredible cleats, bats and gloves with great meaning from their favorite players over the weekend. Friday was for players' personalities, friendships and off-field interests. Saturday was for players' favorite charity and community effort and Sunday was to celebrate the people who helped them in their journey to the big leagues.
Here are our 10 favorite items from MLB Players' Weekend
10. Ryan O'Hearn's Irish Cleats
Ryan clairfied to reporters before the weekend that this was "absolutely not" a homage to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Instead he noted this was a nod to his Irish roots and he added a matching bat to boot.
9. Michael Harris II's Spider-Man and Toy Story Bats
Double the fun for this Atlanta Brave who brought and used two bats for personality night. Harris even added a pair of Toy Story themed cleats to the mix to complete the cypher.
8. Alex Verdugo's Mexico Bat
The Yankees outfielder paid respect to his heritage with a Mexican themed bat and an illustration of himself in a sombrero right on the sweet spot of the barrel.
7. Orion Kerkering's Cleats
Technically these spikes the Phillies reliever had commissioned are Star Wars themed as the right cleat features imagery from the original trilogy. But he lands here for immortalizing Baby Yoda (I know his name is Grogu) on his left cleat. This is the way.
6. Francisco Lindor's Gucci Glove
This official collaboration from Rawlings and Gucci was actually revealed last June. But a one of one Gucci glove is a one of one Gucci baseball glove and Lindor decided Players' Weekend was the perfect time for this flex.
5. Shohei Ohtani's Decoy Cleats
He's a good boy! Look at that good boy! Dog content is the easiest and truest way to win over the world and Shohei just wanted us all to know just how good a boy Decoy is. You have to respec that.
4. Pencil Bat
Multiple players around the league swung the bat that Bryson Stott made famous last year at the Little League Classic. The Victus Vibe Pencil was back in full force this weekend and it's a sight to behold each time someone decides to step into the box with it.
3. Dad Cleats
Several players like Brandon Crawford, Kevin Pillar, Kevin Newman and more did the most dad thing ever and let their kids design their cleats. Got to love a peak dad moment.
2. Brandon Marsh's Brandon Marsh Bat
Twins. Brandon Marsh decided to immortalize the MLB's most famous beard on the barrel of his bat and it's perfect. That beard must have some power too because guess what Brandon did with that bat?
Hit a solo bomb.
1. Jackson Merrill's Lightsaber Bat
It glows in the dark? Come on.
The Padres rookie sensation won the weekend with this special piece of hardware. The force was with Jackson even when he didn't use the bat in Friday's game as he cracked a triple against the Rockies in Colorado. More importantly he has this sweet piece of hardware to hang up in his house somewhere.
