Colin Kaepernick Reportedly Snags $1 Million Book Deal
The deal was reportedly signed with Random House imprint One World.
It's looking less and less likely that Colin Kaepernick will ever play another day in the NFL (you know, on account of probably getting colluded out of the league, and whatnot). But, even without those pro football checks coming in he could still stand to throw down a major deposit thanks to a book deal, worth just over $1 million. Kaepernick inked the deal with Random House imprint One World on Tuesday. There is, so far, little detail of what the book will be about, though it will most likely deal with race, police brutality and Colin's kneeling protest.
In case you're unfamiliar, One World is headed by Chris Jackson who, in addition to previously publishing Jay Z and Ta-Nehisi Coates, had the following written about him in this New York Times Magazine article from last year:
Despite being unemployed from the NFL, Colin has been keeping busy with his activism through his Know Your Rights organization, which describes itself as "a free campaign for youth fully funded by Colin Kaepernick to raise awareness on higher education, self empowerment, and instruction to properly interact with law enforcement in various scenarios."
Previously, Page Six reported that the free agent Quarterback was witnessed "taking meetings with publishers in the New York offices of WME," where he was shopping his planned book.
Hmmm, sometimes you don't have to wait long for news stories to reach their conclusions.
