Michael and Martellus Bennett Sound Off on NFL Players and Coaches in New ESPN Interview
Michael and Martellus Bennett gave very candid answers about several NFL players and coaches in a new interview with ESPN.
On Wednesday morning ESPN published a profile on brothers Michael and Martellus Bennett that's set to appear in their Aug. 22 College Football Preview Issue.
For the uninitiated, Michael (a defensive end for the Seahawks) and Martellus (a tight end for the Patriots) can be seen as somewhat of the anti-Mannings. A pair of NFL playing brothers who don't seem to censor what they say for the sake of landing endorsements.
The two gave several candid responses to writer Mina Kimes about every freakin' subject they were asked about. But, for the purpose of this article, we'll simply focus on what they had to say about their NFL contemporaries.
Some of the quotes they dropped were refreshingly blunt (if also a bit dick-ish), and some of the stuff they said was complimentary, just in a non-traditional way.
You can likely figure out from their set of quotes which is which.
For instance they were asked about Martellus's former quarterback, and teammate of three years, Jay Cutler:
Damn. Seems like a lot has changed over the past 10 months.
They also spoke about Sam Bradford, sarcastically (and also not for the first time):
Eli Manning:
J.J. Watt:
Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler:
Cowboys tight end Jason Witten
Michael's coach Pete Carroll:
Jeff Fisher:
Martellus's new quarterback Tom Brady:
MVP Cam Newton:
And, of course, Roger Goodell:
In fact, from the interview, it seems logical to infer that the brothers have an opinion on every damn topic/player in the league.
It wouldn't shock us if that were true with most players, we just rarely hear them ever actually speak on it. If nothing else the answers from the Bennett bros. are certainly more entertaining than your canned athlete clichés.
You should definitely go check it out over at ESPN whenever you have time.
