In recent weeks, it has been a series of unfortunate setbacks for the Indiana Fever’s star player, Caitlin Clark. She has sustained several injuries throughout the season, the most recent of which was a left groin injury. While she had been recovering from the injury, it was aggravated again while she was playing during the Fever’s game against the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday.

In the wake of that injury, Fever fans have been waiting on edge to hear whether or not Clark would be able to participate in the WNBA All-Star game on Friday, July 18. The game is being hosted in Indianapolis.

Clark did not play during the Fever’s game against the New York Liberty on Wednesday, but it was still unknown at the time whether she would be recovered well enough to play on Friday. Unfortunately, that answer has now been revealed, and it is not the news that Fever fans were hoping for.

In a statement posted to the Fever’s Instagram page on Thursday afternoon, Clark announced that she would not be playing in the All-Star Game due to needing to rest and recover.

“I’m so excited for Indy to host WNBA All-Star this weekend. I want to thank the Indianapolis Host Committee and all of the people who have put in endless work over the past year to put this event together. I know this will be the best All-Star yet,” she began.

"I am incredibly sad and disappointed to say I can't participate in the 3-Point Contest or the All-Star Game," Clark continued. "I have to rest my body. I will still be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for all the action, and I'm looking forward to helping Sandy [Brondello] coach our team to a win."

Clark was in visible pain and had tears in her eyes following the aggravated groin injury on Tuesday. Fans are now hopeful that by taking the time she needs to rest and recover, she’ll be back on the court and at her best soon.
