Lamar Odom Says It Would Be a ‘Blessing’ to Have Friendship With Khloé Kardashian
The former NBA star makes an appearance on the upcoming season of 'The Kardashians.'
Lamar Odom wants to make amends with his ex-wife, Khloé Kardashian, for good.
The former NBA player appears with a bouquet of roses to greet Kardashian in the season six trailer of Hulu's The Kardashians. After Kris Jenner tearfully recalls Odom being "the love of [her daughter's] life," Kardashian confesses that she "doesn't know" her ex-husband anymore.
Kardashian and Odom were married from 2009 until 2016, but they divorced partly because of the athlete's infidelity and persistent drug abuse.
On a Sunday (January 19) episode of Australian podcast The Kyle and Jackie O Show, around the 2-minute mark, Odom denied that he had fully reconciled with Kardashian.
"It would be a blessing just to be her friend," Odom told the hosts.
In explaining his reasons for his near-fatal overdose at a brothel in 2015, Odom shared that he made the visit after signing off on his divorce papers. But the exes have remained somewhat acquainted, with Odom joking about getting a sex doll modeled after Kardashian last year. Odom dismissed the move as "clickbait" for company Real Doll.
Around the 9-minute mark, Odom explained that while in Las Vegas last year, he ran into Kardashian's best friend, Malika Haqq, who recommended that he meet with his ex-wife.
"[Malika] came to me, she said, 'Lamar, I think it’s time for you and Khloé to [talk],'" he shared. "'It’s been years. You haven’t seen her. If you’re up for it, I think I can make it happen.'"
"I went there, and there were cameras there and I was like, 'Oh, all right.’ It’s cool, I understand it, you know,' he said. "So much time has passed, and people have changed. I think for the better."
Odom stayed mum about the person he's currently dating, while Kardashian has embraced single life after dating ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson on and off. The exes share two children, True, 6, and Tatum, 2.
Odom also called it "healthy" to still want to be in touch with Kardashian.
"I think it’s healthy sometimes to like, you know, move on," he said. "You know, in a healthy way. Like I said, it’d be a blessing just to be a friend, just to be around her."
