There's a fine line between "unique" and "weird." These vehicles cross that line. Here's visual proof that visiting eBay Motors isn't just good for finding your everyday Ford Model As and Lamborghini Murcielagos. It's also good for entertainment. Click the slides and pass the popcorn.
This Wheel's Made for Cookin'
10. This Wheel's Made for Cookin'
Vehicle: 2008 Harley Exile Custom Chopper
Auction Link
Complex Says: We're mesmerized by the shiny solid disc pizza pan rear wheel. More than that, though, it's the sprocket brake on the rear wheel that captures our attention. Look at it from every angle. It's absolutely fascinating. This is probably more on the unique side than the weird side, strictly speaking, but we can't stop staring at that rear wheel.
The Wedgie
9. The Wedgie
Vehicle: 1980 Vanguard Comuta-Car
Auction Link
Complex Says: In response to the fuel crisis in the early '70s, a Florida company called Sebring-Vanguard designed the CitiCar, which looked very similar to the Comuta-Car you see above. The company was broken apart and sold at the end of the decade, and the updated Comuta-Car was produced until 1982. It looks a bit like a doorstop. But it's an historic doorstop in the evolution of electric cars.
Nice craftsmanship, strangely applied
8. Nice Craftsmanship, Strangely Applied
Vehicle: Custom 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Auction Link
Complex Says: This pickup takes the flame motif to a whole new level. It's certainly unique, but we have to question the wisdom of carving your flames out of wood. Isn't that tempting fate?
Awesome gardening car
7. Awesome For Gardening
Vehicle: 1959 Cushman 3-Wheel Pickup
Auction Link
Complex Says: So you're rolling on your vintage scooter and you think to yourself, “Wouldn't it be awesome if my scooter was a pickup truck?” Well, no, you probably don't. It's like a toy ride-on truck for adults.
You need sunglasses to drive this car
6. Sunglasses Required
Vehicle: Camry Cane Car
Auction Link
Complex Says: This is where too much street glow can get you. We have only one question: what do you do when you get to power lines with this car? Or low-hanging trees? (OK, that was two.) At least you know that if someone else hits you while you're driving this, he can't possibly claim that he didn't see you. That is, unless he claims that he was temporarily blinded by your overwhelming brightness.
How classy Victorians rolled
5. How Classy Victorians Rolled
Vehicle: Vintage 1897 Sears Horseless Carriage Buggy
Auction Link
Complex Says: It has forward and reverse gears and can apparently get up to 35mph. What we want to know is, why isn't this in a museum somewhere? All we know is, tonight we're gonna party like it's 1899.
Laxi? Timo? What would you call it?
4. Laxi? Timo?
Vehicle: 1976 Checker Aerobus
Auction Link
Complex Says: Anyone can stretch a Hummer. This Checker Aerobus came from the factory as a stretch limousine, which makes it pretty unique. Powered by a Chevy 350 V8 engine, it's definitely a head-turner. You see cabs every day if you live in a big city, and you probably spent the last month seeing limos everywhere too. But we bet you didn't see one like this.
The Cadillac of Hearses
3. The Cadillac of Hearses
Vehicle: 1929 Cadillac Hearse
Auction Link
Complex Says: Is this a really fancy hearse, a carnival ride, or a parade float? We're all about rolling in style at all times, and we suppose we'll still feel that way when we're dead. But this is a bit much.
Do Androids Dream of Electric Cars?
2. Do Androids Dream of Electric Cars?
Vehicle: The Dream Car Electric Home Made Car
Auction Link
Complex Says: To be fair, this is a prototype, and inventor Greg Zanis says as much. By selling this prototype, Zanis is hoping to finance the full production of the actual, running version. Are electric cars a good idea? No doubt, but we want to know why it's a pyramid that is so wide, it requires a special trailer to haul it. Isn't a flat area that wide going to create more wind resistance for the battery to contend with? It's how we imagine “The Jetsons Visit Egypt” might be.
(Get to the) Chopper
1. (Get To The) Chopper
Vehicle: 1965 Huey Gunship UH-1E Military Bell Aircraft Helicopter
Auction Link
Complex Says: Tanks and Humvees show up on eBay with regularity. How often do you see a Huey Gunship? Not very. While it doesn't have official records, and several parts are missing serial numbers, the history that the seller has dug up on this bird is fascinating. He's managed to trace where it was stationed throughout its life, as well as some of the decorated military personnel who flew it. Did we mention it's a freakin' gunship?!
