Janel Grant, the former female WWE employee who filed a sexual abuse and trafficking lawsuit against Vince McMahon, has released a statement following last night's surprise SummerSlam appearance of Brock Lesnar, who is mentioned in the ongoing suit.

"For far too long, abuse was allowed to thrive under WWE's leadership. Instead of righting this wrong, WWE has done nothing to ensure those responsible are held accountable," a spokesperson for Grant said in a statement, obtained by Fightful.com wrestling reporter Sean Ross Sapp. "This attempt to sweep misconduct under the rug will backfire."

In her lawsuit, Grant accused McMahon of trafficking her "as a pawn to secure talent deals." According to USA TODAY, the suit alleges Lesnar showed up to WWE headquarters in Connecticut following an alleged sexual encounter offer from McMahon.

Nothing occurred between Grant and Lesnar because he got "too intoxicated and was taken back to the plane."

"We look forward to the full set of facts, including those about Mr. Lesnar, coming out in a court of law where they belong," the statement concluded.

Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio reported earlier today that WWE's legal department cleared Lesnar four weeks ago.

SummerSlam was the WWE's first Premium Live Event, or PLE, to abandon the post-event press conference where reporters could pose questions to the talent and the company's chief content officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque.

"I do know, everyone figured this out but I can tell you also, factually, that the reason they didn't do the press conferences was because of this angle," Meltzer commented.

Lesnar was originally expected to participate in the Royal Rumble last year, but he got pulled when his alleged involvement in the lawsuit became known, as reported by Meltzer. He was also removed from WWE 2K24.

Even though Lesnar has not been named in the lawsuit or under investigation, it was apparent that the WWE initially wanted to distance itself from him. Months later, references to Lesnar on WWE Raw seemed to signal that the company's stance on him was changing.

Turns out, the WWE was slowly soft launching what we witnessed last night.
