Wander Franco Under Investigation Over Another Relationship With Underage Girl
The Tampa Bay Rays star is currently on paid administrative leave as the MLB investigates the allegations.
A second complaint has been filed by a girl alleging she had a relationship with Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco as a minor, as reported by ESPN's Juan Recio. Prosecutors in the Dominican Republic are now launching an investigation into this latest allegation.
There are no other details regarding the latest complaint at the moment.
Three girls have come forward claiming they engaged in an underage relationship with Franco. The Rays star was placed on paid administrative leave by Major League Baseball last week following a series of social media posts exposing an alleged relationship with a 14-year-old girl.
A local newspaper later reported that a lawsuit was filed last month by another girl claiming she was 17 years old when she got involved with Franco.
Sources tell ESPN that prosecutors would like to speak with Franco in the coming weeks. It is very likely these investigations will keep the 22-year-old out for the remainder of the 2023 season.
