Vancouver Whitecaps FC Removes 'Montreal' From Its Smoked Meat Sandwich Ahead Of Canadian Championship
In an effort to boost the rivalry ahead of the game, the Whitecaps are renaming the Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich at BC Place to Vancouver Smoked Meat Sandwich instead.
On Wednesday, June 7, the Vancouver Whitecaps FC will face off against CF Montreal in the Canadian Championship final.
In an effort to boost the rivalry ahead of the game, the Whitecaps are renaming the Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich at BC Place to Vancouver Smoked Meat Sandwich instead.
Given Montreal is widely known for its smoked meat, people from the city will likely see this as an affront to their culture.
Some people were already baffled at the decision to put smoked meat on a hamburger bun, however.
One Whitecaps fan just hopes this doesn't mean their team will get "smoked" during the game.
And for those keeping count, this isn't the first time another place claimed to make food Montreal is known for better than Montreal.
The final will take place tomorrow night at 10:00 p.m. EST/ 7:00 p.m. PST in Vancouver.
