The 2025 Lexus US Open of Surfing concluded Sunday, August 3, in Huntington Beach, California, with Lexus once again making serious waves as the title partner of the event.

The luxury automotive maker partnered with Complex to bring back its Lexus House for a second consecutive year. The elevated, surf-inspired beachside lounge served as the social epicenter for the week-long competition. Attendees dropped by to kick back, cool off, and catch the action, while immersing themselves in the sport’s dynamic culture.

Adding to the buzz, Lexus collaborated with SoCal lifestyle brand Free & Easy to drop an exclusive custom capsule. Twice-daily giveaways kept the crowd hyped, offering items that ranged from tees and hats, to paddle sets and beach bags. On the final day, one lucky spectator scored the ultimate prize: a one-of-one surfboard, featuring a black outline, an orange-and-yellow deck, and “Huntington Beach” lettering stretched from nose to tail.

Fueling the experience, popular Los Angeles Italian restaurant and Lexus Culinary Masters Jon & Vinny’s served up light bites on both weekends, with Pepe’s Tomato Dip Crostini headlining a menu crafted for the beach crowd. Lexus brand ambassador and pro American surfer Griffin Colapinto, who boasts two top-three finishes in the WSL Championship, also made an appearance, hosting a meet-and-greet that drew surf fans and locals alike.

Of course, Lexus brought its own heat too. The brand showcased its latest fleet of vehicles at the Lexus House and across the event grounds. The Surf LX, a luxury SUV tailor-made for surfers, stole the show with its matte blue exterior and crisp white roofline (a nod to the ocean-meets-shore aesthetic), slide-out cargo storage, surfboard rack, and rear ladder. The sleek 2025 LX 700h Ultra Luxury, rugged 2024 GX 550 Overtrail, and drop-top 2024 LC 500 Convertible also turned heads.

In the water, Sawyer Lindblad (United States) claimed her second U.S. Open title, edging out 14-year-old phenom Tya Zebrowski (France) with a score of 13.17. On the men’s side, Levi Slawson (United States) out-shredded Mateus Herdy (Brazil) with a score of 13.50 to earn a crucial win. The victory moved the San Diego native to 4th in the Challenger Series rankings, making him a likely qualifier for the Championship Tour—the pinnacle of pro surfing.

While the competition certainly delivered (and then some), Lexus’ impact extended beyond the shoreline.

As part of its ongoing commitment to inclusivity, expression, and cultural representation in surf, the brand announced its continued partnership with A Great Day in the Stoke (AGDITS)—with the brand set to sponsor the world’s largest gathering of Black surfers from across the African diaspora. The annual event will offer free surf lessons, celebrate trailblazers in the community, and create space for surfers of color (and their allies) to connect, celebrate, and be seen.

If you’re in the Los Angeles-Huntington Beach area on September 27, check out the fourth annual AGDITS and see how Lexus amplifies the voices and stories shaping surf.
