Watch Trailer for Netflix Doc Exploring Brett Favre’s Mississippi Welfare Scandal and More

Netflix has released the trailer for Untold: The Fall of Favre, which focuses on Brett Favre's alleged sexual misconduct off the field in 2008 and his welfare funds scandal in 2022.

The trailer was unleashed on Tuesday and shows archival clips of the former NFL quarterback in the early years, along with ex-New York Jets Gameday host Jenn Sterger speaking on her claims that Favre sent her inappropriate texts and photos during his stint with the New York Jets in 2008.

"Brett Favre ultimately destroyed my life," said Sterger in the trailer.

The trailer also discusses Favre's Mississippi welfare scandal in 2022, where the 55-year-old's humility and heart are questioned. Rebecca Gitlitz, the director of the latest entry in the Untold series, explained in a statement that this installment highlights how an iconic football player isn't being held accountable for his alleged actions.

"This story about one of the greatest quarterbacks in history goes beyond touchdowns and epic wins and lifts the lid on how when fame rises, sometimes accountability falls," said Gitlitz. "It was made with the intention of laying out patterns of behaviors, told from the people who lived with the consequences of Favre's actions, to ask audiences to consider if success should be a shield for harmful behavior."

She added, "Ultimately, the film challenges all of us to consider when we let our heroes go too far, who is to blame? And when the dust settles, can we have honest conversations about the humanity of all of those involved."

The NFL ran an investigation into Favre's alleged inappropriate behavior, and that failed to show he sent Sterger lewd photos. He also wasn't found in violation of the NFL's personal conduct policy, but did have to pay a $50,000 fine for not cooperating with the investigation.

In 2022, Favre found himself in the middle of a huge public fraud case where he was alleged to have pocketed $1 million from misappropriated funds that were meant for in-need residents in the state of Mississippi.

Favre allegedly took money for speaking appearances he never made, and there's evidence of a text exchange between himself and a former Mississippi governor about the use of $5 million of those funds to build a volleyball facility at Favre's alma mater. Favre hasn't been charged or convicted of any crimes relating to the welfare scandal.
