Nalyssa Smith was stunned to find out she was traded to the Las Vegas Aces, but she reassured that it’s business as usual.

On Tuesday, the Aces announced on X that they have acquired Smith from the Dallas Wings in exchange for their 2027 first-round draft pick. The trade sent waves across the WNBA community, drawing reactions from several people, including Smith.

Smith, who joined the Wings this past offseason after a two-year stint with the Indiana Fever, was averaging 6.7 points and 4.9 rebounds in 19.1 minutes per game. The trade surprised fans and Smith herself.

Moments after the announcement, Smith took to X and shared her reaction, explaining how "sick" to her stomach she is over the move.

“Sick to my stomach dawg , never seen this coming but .. i love you dallas nation, thank you 4 everything,” wrote Smith.

She added, “On another note tho if i could’ve chose anywhere to go it would’ve been vegas so hella excited 4 this new opportunity wit my goat . 🙂↔️🤝🏾.”

Her reference to “my goat” is widely believed to be aimed at Aces superstar and three-time WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson, signaling Smith’s enthusiasm about playing alongside one of the league’s most dominant players. Smith’s girlfriend, Wings guard DiJonai Carrington, expressed heartbreak over the trade with a single heartbreak emoji.

The Aces have continued to bolster their roster with this move, as Smith’s arrival adds depth and athleticism to a squad already stacked with talent. Dallas, on the other hand, will now look ahead to building with future draft assets.
