Indiana Pacers sophomore Johnny Furphy made a major statement during an NBA Summer League game when he put a Chicago Bulls rookie on a poster.

On Monday night (July 14), the Indiana Pacers took on the Bulls in Summer League action, and Furphy gave fans in Las Vegas and at home arguably the best highlight of the summer. In the closing minutes of the second quarter, Furphy caught a pass in transition, pulled a behind-the-back dribble on a defender, and then banged a thunderous dunk over Bulls rookie Noa Essengue.

The move was so crazy that the crowd exploded. Furphy even earned a coveted spot on SportsCenter's Top 10 plays of the night. If that weren't enough, cameras in the arena captured the perfect image of Furphy slamming the ball in mid-air while Essengue braced for impact, and the resulting photo went viral.

"JOHNNY FURPHY CLIMBED THE LADDER," one account tweeted. Another wrote, "Dawg Johnny Furphy really ruined this man's life. He'll never live this down."

A third account said, "Noa Essengue got his NBA career ended by Johnny Furphy, it was a good run man."

Furphy, a one-and-done standout from Kansas who saw limited minutes as a rookie with the Pacers, turned heads across the basketball world with that explosive play on Monday night. It was a welcoming moment for the Pacers faithful, too, who had lost their star, Tyrese Haliburton, to an Achilles tear and saw former cornerstone player Myles Turner join the Milwaukee Bucks after a 10-year stint.
