Zion Williamson Debuts His Insane New Back Tattoo
Williamson has only played in six games this season.
Zion Williamson got a brand new back tattoo that's going viral on social media.
On Friday, the 24-year-old shared a few images of the massive tattoo on his back as well as a video of him getting it done. In the clip, Zion is watching an anime TV show while the tattoo artist designs the ghoulish mask before inking it onto the New Orleans Pelicans player's body.
This follows Zion getting "Mount Zion" tattooed across his shoulders last year by artist Anthony Michaels, known as @antmikes on Instagram.
Zion joins an exclusive group of players who have gotten large tattoos on their backs. In May, LaMelo Ball got some ink done by Herchell Carrasco that included an alien head and the "RARE ONE" title. Weeks after that, Deshaun Watson got a piece done featuring his mother and other family members, KAWS artwork, the NFL logo, his hometown, and Martin Luther King, Jr. wearing a fitted cap.
On the basketball side, Zion is averaging 22.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. He's also shooting 45.2% from the field and 66.7%from the free-throw line in six outings this year, thanks to an injury-plagued start to the season.
He missed the Pelicans’ season opener due to illness and has been sidelined for the past seven games with a strained hamstring. The team is struggling without their star player, and there’s currently no timetable for his return. Additionally, several other players are also dealing with injuries.
