Formula 1 is 75 years old this year and to mark this historic milestone, for the first time ever brought together all the F1 teams for a joint unveiling of their new cars and liveries ahead of the new 2025 season, which kicks off in March. Titled F1 75 Live, the event was held at London’s O2 Arena and was a high-octane, all-singing, all-dancing affair, featuring live music performances, lots of famous faces and more lasers than all the Star Wars movies put together.

The audience was made up of celeb petrolheads like Idris Elba and Gordon Ramsay, motorsport royalty including national treasure and Stormzy’s mate, Martin Brundle, and around 15,000 excitable motorsport fans. All were treated to an eclectic yet high-energy line-up of live music performances from the likes of Machine Gun Kelly, Tems and Kane Brown.

At the heart of the event was the teams’ car and livery reveals, for which they each had seven minutes to fill with a creative statement. Red Bull dropped a cool Nothing Beats A Londoner—but on wheels—style video; Munya Chawawa dropped a skit for Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, making fun of the awkwardness of the team’s own name; Alpine went mega-rave with a performance from uber-composer and Formula 1 Theme creator Brian Tyler; while Aston Martin enlisted the services of Grammy-winning R&B star Tems who graced the stage with a rendition of “Higher”, accompanied by a soaring string section, to front their James Bond-inspired presentation.

The crowd brought strong partizan panto energy throughout, booing Max Verstappen and Christian Horner while cheering wildly for Lewis Hamilton, George Russell and Lando Norris, but all seemed to be taken in good spirit. F1 has been on a roll in recent years, from the success of Drive to Survive in introducing a new audience to the sport, more competitive on-track racing in 2024—and, hopefully, even more so in 2025—through to F1 the movie, which was previewed here and looks destined to be a smash hit in cinemas this summer.

Now we can add F1 75 Live to this list, the success of which will surely justify the addition of a joint unveiling event to the annual motorsport calendar from now on.
